storage cubes – Complete Review 2025
storage cubes are one of the most popular home organization solutions for anyone seeking versatility and simplicity. This product from Amazon Basics provides a pack of six foldable bins designed to help declutter any closet, shelf, or dorm room efficiently.
With its neutral beige color and fabric handles, each cube blends seamlessly into a variety of décor styles. Not only does it function as a standalone organizer basket, but you can also use it as an insert for a cube storage system or shelving unit.
The lightweight yet durable design ensures you won’t struggle with heavy loads when managing seasonal clothing, kids’ toys, or accessories. According to Amazon Basics, these bins are built to be collapsible for easy storage when not in use.
Key Features of the storage cubes
- Six included bins: Each set comes with six beige foldable bins perfect for closet storage or organizing small spaces.
- Sewn-in handles: Handles make these fabric organizers easy to pull out from shelves or transport between rooms, fostering convenient home organization.
- Sturdy but lightweight: Each bin is made from breathable fabric, offering the durability you expect from cube bins without extra weight.
- Collapsible design: When not in use, just fold the bins flat for efficient storage, especially useful for seasonal swaps or apartment living.
This model fits most open storage bins and can be used as a drawer organizer for cubes or as standalone organizer baskets in bedrooms, offices, or playrooms.
Real-World Performance Testing
To put storage cubes to the test, we filled each bin with up to 14 T-shirts, 8 pairs of jeans, a week’s worth of towels, or a mix of toys and books. The bins kept their shape well, with only minor distortion when carrying over 5 lbs—a limit noted by several reviewers at Storables.
These foldable bins shine most with lighter items, performing best in closet storage for clothing, bedding, or kids’ supplies. Packed with linens and home accessories, they slid easily from shelves thanks to the sturdy handles. The cube storage system compatibility also means fast assembly and seamless switching between rooms.
While excellent for lightweight home items, these large storage bins are not designed for heavy-duty use, limiting them for books or tools. For more advanced storage hacks, see our vacuum storage guide or discover the benefits of the drawer organizer.
How It Compares to Alternatives
This product balances price and utility better than more expensive brands like mDesign or Container Store’s premium bins. Amazon Basics cubes cost less per bin while offering similar quality to IKEA’s SKUBB series, though the latter has more color choices.
The beige storage cubes feature collapsible construction and sewn-in handles, much like Sterilite’s fabric bins, but generally sell for a lower price and arrive in a convenient six-pack for whole-home organization.
Who Should Buy This Product?
Busy parents juggling kids’ accessories, renters with small closets, and anyone seeking flexible closet storage will enjoy this tool. It’s ideal for students organizing dorms and those creating a DIY cube storage system on a budget.
If you need heavy-duty containers for garage tools or seek lidded bins to hide contents, skip this model and opt for rigid or waterproof storage baskets instead.
